With nearly two weeks of winter remaining, it’s time to look ahead to warmer weather and the many fun activities it brings. One of our favorite cities, Philadelphia, is kicking off the springtime festivities on March 28th with the month-long, biannual Philadelphia International Festival of the Arts. “If You had a Time Machine” is the theme, and the festival’s many dance, music, and theater performances will bring different time periods to life. Exhibitions and lectures cover important moments in history, and the interactive time machine will help visitors discover their personal time travel journey.
The Philadelphia International Festival of the Arts is but one of the many events the City of Brotherly Love has in store over these coming months. On March 31, South Street will become the neighborhood of the walking dead as the Philly Zombie Crawl gets underway. For those with a preference for science rather than fantasy, the Philadelphia Science Festival promises ten days of dynamic exhibits, interactive presentations, and educational programs starting April 18. One month later, the neighborhood of East Kensington hosts the Trenton Avenue Arts Festival and celebrates local artists, musicians, and restaurants.
There are nearly 40 festivals taking place in Philadelphia through November. From multicultural heritage celebrations to days of promising gastronomic bliss, Philadelphia has a lot to offer. For more information about these upcoming events, check out VisitPhilly online.
