Grab your beach chair and blanket because our local treasure Brookdale Public Radio, 90.5 The Night’s beach summer concert series tonight. Transitioned from Songwriters in the Park, we are fortunate to have the series now on the beach. Why not, right? Everything should be on the beach!
Highlighting new talent is one of the things 90.5 The Night does best, and the upcoming Songwriters on the Beach concerts are proof. Launched in 2005, Songwriters on the Beach is an annual series of free, weekly acoustic performances by local and national talent held on Ocean Avenue between 5th and 6th in Belmar. This year’s series begins tonight at 7PM with performance from rock and blues band 7Horse and guitarist Ben Fuller. Before the music starts, 90.5 The Night is celebrating with a kickoff party at 10th Ave Burrito Company in Belmar. Station hosts will be at the VIP party, and guests can get dinner for two and a Belmar gift bag featuring the new Songwriters on the Beach cd with a $125 donation. But hurry, there are a limited number of spots available, so call 732-224-2492 or visit this link to get your tickets.
Keep your radios tuned to 90.5 The Night for updates about the evening’s events and weather conditions. Also keep in mind that temps drop significantly at the beach so be sure to bring a sweatshirt, just in case. If you can’t make tonight’s show, don’t worry! There’s a Songwriters on the Beach concert at 7PM every Thursday through August 28. Click here to see the schedule.
90.5 The Night serves Monmouth and Ocean Counties, and offers a nice contrast to Top 40 radio, playing a fantastic mix of the blues, hits from back in the day, classic and new acoustic songs, and tracks from promising, up-and-coming indie artists. Click here to support the station.
