May the Force be With You

Today is the opening day for one of the year’s most anticipated moves, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. The day couldn’t come any sooner for some die-hard fans. And the force is on their side. This is the 2nd year in a row — second December in a row, to be more precise — that a new Star Wars movie is released. Before being sold to Disney, it was more like decades (or felt like).

What the Critics  Say about Rogue One

If the critics’ opinion has any consequence to you, here’s what some of them have to say about the new movie:
Masquerading as a heroic tale of rebellion, the true spirit of Rogue One is Empire all the way down. Full review

A. O. Scott, The NYTimes
Felicity Jones’s fugitive, hunting for the plans to the Death Star, is a tousled-but-game female lead – just one of many classic Star Wars motifs in Gareth Edwards’ exhilarating spin-off. Full review

Peter Bradshaw, The Guardian
For the original generation of “Star Wars” fans who weren’t sure what to make of episodes one, two, and three, “Rogue One” is the prequel they’ve always wanted. Full review

Peter Debruge, Variety

Tickets Still Available

In the Jersey Shore area, the movie does not seem to be commanding as much excitement as Disney would have hoped. Today is opening day, and tickets for the 8:15 showing in Brick, NJ are still available for purchase. No doubt, it would be wise to get there early. Like very early to ensure that you won’t have to wrench your neck to see it.

Since getting to places early is not quite our thing (or being in a room at max capacity for that matter) we may wait a few days until watching the movie.

If you go, enjoy!
